We are working with a sub-contract sheet metal fabrication business in Coventry, who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Fabricator to join their established and successful manufacturing team.  The Senior Fabricator will be reporting to the Production Manager.

 

About the Role

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled fabricator who takes pride in producing high-quality work and is confident working from engineering drawings and specifications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble components to a high standard
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Report any Health & Safety concerns, missing materials
  • Carry out MIG/TIG welding and general fabrication work
  • Use a range of fabrication tools and equipment safely
  • Ensure work meets quality and customer requirements
  • Support and guide other members of the fabrication team

About You

We are working with a sub-contract sheet metal business in Coventry, who are looking to recruit an experienced Production Manager to oversee sheet metal fabrication operations across their sites.

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing production operations across multiple sheet metal fabrication sites with 25–30 direct reports
  • Leading process improvements and implement new operational standards to drive efficiency and ensure work is completed OTIF.

Preferred Requirements

  • Solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and production workflows
  • Proven experience managing large teams in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a constantly changing setting
  • PC literate and comfortable using production management systems and tools
  • Self-starter mentality with the drive to hit the ground running and contribute ideas for process improvement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Qualification in Production Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management role within a sheet metal fabrication business.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Have experience of machining a variety of materials, including Cast Iron, Aluminium & Stainless Steel.
  • Be flexible to cover other shifts, and reliable, and be a good team player..
  • Have experience of working to high tolerances
  • Be able to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Be able to carry out their own inspection.
  • Have previous experience of programming online using Haidenhain control systems.

The role

We are working with an established engineering company, based in Worcester. Due to an increase in their workload, they are now looking for an experienced Toolmaker to join their tool room, manufacturing, assembling and maintaining complex tooling used in the production of aerospace and industrial gas turbine components.

This role would suit a skilled, practical toolmaker who can interpret detailed engineering drawings, work to tight tolerances and solve problems during tool assembly and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models and technical specifications
  • Produce and modify precision tooling components
  • Carry out bench fitting, polishing, grinding, drilling and other tool making operations
  • Check components and assemblies against drawings and tolerances
  • Support tooling trials, commissioning and production prove-out
  • Diagnose tooling failures and complete repairs and modifications
  • Maintain existing tooling to ensure reliable production performance
  • Record modifications and provide feedback for drawing and design updates
  • Contribute to tool room standards and continuous improvement
  • Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment

About you

You will have:

  • Significant experience as a toolmaker, mould toolmaker or precision engineer
  • A recognised engineering or tool making apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong bench-fitting skills
  • The ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings
  • Experience manufacturing, assembling and repairing complex precision tooling
  • A good understanding of machining, grinding, EDM and tool making processes
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
  • A practical and methodical approach to problem-solving

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Work with the senior management team to advance the business to next milestone.

  • Relevant QHSE qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
